Zara & Ricky | The Wooltower
If you follow us on Instagram, you may recognize these two; they featured quite prominently on our stories when we photographed their pre-wedding session on Portstewart Strand. Zara & Ricky, what an honor it was to be a part of your big day. We've known each other since childhood, and we've collaborated on previous projects, so when you asked us to be your wedding photographers, it was honestly the quickest "YES" I've ever let out!
For those who know Zara & Ricky, you'll understand that they are more than just a couple; they're the life and soul of any party. Their wedding was all about good times, friends, and family.
By now, you'll know that we always encourage you to do what's right for you and your big day. When we arrived in the morning to capture the preparations, there were a pair of heels and a pair of white DMs that Zara planned to change into after the ceremony. Zara didn't need much persuasion; she tossed the heels aside, opting for the white DMs for the majority of the day. The reactions to the white DMs on our Instagram story were incredible—so much love and respect for choosing something different that still screamed 'bride!' But hey, as we've said before and will say again, it's your day - do it your way! They also chose to ditch the traditional officiant and went for a celebrant to make their ceremony as personal as possible. We have a special love for celebrants; they go the extra mile to get to know you and what you're all about. Vows were exchanged, tears were shed (we won't mention names, but there were a lot of tears), all in front of their closest friends and family.
Now, what's a party without music? Ricky Lorimer didn't just perform during the ceremony; he rocked out on the guitar for the entire drinks reception too. In the build-up to their big day, we were under strict instructions that Zara was dead set on keeping the "formal" photos to a minimum. She wanted to enjoy the music, be in the moment, and soak up the vibe of the day. No distractions, just pure celebration. And we knew we were going to get so many gorgeous candid moments which for some couples means so much more than the official formal photos.
As the sun set and the speeches were made, the party really kicked into high gear on the dance floor. Zara and Ricky, surrounded by their gang, danced like there was no tomorrow. It was a day that screamed "Zara and Ricky," and it's etched in our memories as one epic party.
So, here's to Zara and Ricky—may your life together be as wild and wonderful as your wedding day!
