Dean, who was sent to Frances Street for coffee training, had no inkling that his life was about to change forever as he crossed paths with Liam, who would later become his husband. Their story started with coffee, but it would soon brew into something much stronger (pun intended).
Their first date was far from ordinary. It was a celebration of love, unity, and pride as they chose to spend it at Belfast Pride. Little did they know, this was just the beginning of a lifetime of shared adventures.
Liam took charge of the proposal during a New Year's Eve trip to London. He had originally planned to pop the question later in the evening to a backdrop of fireworks, but his excitement got the best of him. In a busy restaurant, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city, Liam dropped to one knee, and Dean said, "Yes!"... This marked the beginning of their wedding planning journey. Originally set for 2025, the pair decided, "Why wait?" With only a few weeks of planning, they fast-tracked their date and pulled off a wedding that felt like it had been part of their plan all along. They switched venues to Lagan Valley Island in Lisburn, where their day was filled with intimate moments, surrounded by their closest family and friends.
What made this day even more heartwarming was the presence of their two boys, Ezra and Saul, who shared in the joy and walked down the aisle with them. It was a beautiful reminder that love isn't just about two people; it's about the family you build together.
Planning a wedding on a tight timeline might sound daunting, but Dean and Liam handled it like pros. After their photos, they made a quick pit stop at James Street South, where they were set to have a sit-down dinner with their guests later that evening. They added a personal touch to their tables before rejoining their friends and family for the drinks reception at The Perch in Belfast City Centre.
But the fun didn't stop there. Dean and Liam extended their wedding celebrations into the weekend, organising a massive weekend party, inviting their friends to join them in celebrating their marriage.
Their day was filled with so much laughter and joy, and it was an immense honour to be part of their celebration! Ultimately, what made Dean and Liam's wedding day truly remarkable was their unwavering commitment to doing things their way, on their own terms. Their wedding journey began in the morning with a mix of excitement and nerves at their home, where they got ready together, along with their two boys. Hand in hand, they embarked on their journey from Ards to Lisburn, where they exchanged their vows and became Mr and Mr Fitzsimons!
